Jazzlinks includes three arts-infused experiences:

1. Teacher Workshop A remote Zoom gathering, enabling the review of standards-centered teaching materials including extensive Document Based Questions focused on the Civil Rights Movement through primary sources, historical content and music that illuminates the struggle of African Americans for freedom and self-expression in a highly segregated society. (See Document-Based Questions submitted with application for details.) WBTT will demonstrate the classroom session in the Teacher Workshop.

2. Classroom Session Options for Zoom or In-Person presentations are available, bringing our actors to the classroom in the safest and most convenient way possible for your individual circumstances. Information about the Civil Rights Movement is presented in dramatized sketch format utilizing music and related historical events of the period. Flexibility in presentation formats allows as many classes as possible to participate and learn about the Civil Rights Movement while we navigate the best methodologies needed for education during these times.

3. Culminating Performance also available via Zoom connectivity or in-person performance, brings together a talented cast of performers in a new and vibrant presentation that honors the events and music that helped shape the Civil Rights Movement; allowing for further exploration and understanding of how the movement came to be.

Scheduling of this program: The teacher workshop will be conducted via Zoom connection on Thursday January 13th, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The classroom sessions and performances will be available from February 1-March 14, 2022.

Fees / Ticketing:

$400 per Exploration, including all three parts: Teacher workshop, classroom session and full performance. The Teacher Workshop portion is held via Zoom and up to 150 teachers could participate. The classroom sessions, also available via provided Zoom links, will enable as many students as is safe to be present to view both the initial presentation and the culminating final performance in the safety of the classroom environment.
