Sarasota Art Museum is Ringling College of Art and Design’s dynamic laboratory for the exploration and advancement of contemporary art. Sarasota Art Museum’s field trip program is designed to integrate visual art into the classroom and enhance student literacy, critical thinking, observation, and communication skills through museum visits, classroom resources, and art making. Sarasota Art Museum Tours introduce students to original works of contemporary art, a range of media and processes, and related vocabulary for the purpose of broadening students’ understanding of artistic concepts, increasing comprehension of visual vocabulary, developing art-making skills, and building student self-confidence and communication skills.

Enjoy an exploration of the art and science of color at the Sarasota Art Museum by viewing four art installations that utilize color and other formal elements of art to create immersive experiences for museum goers. Using simple tools, identify a selection of colors used in the murals, learn about the color wheel, the language of color and how color can affect mood.
This Exploration is free. The Studios at SAM is a premium, add-on option for schools. For a flat materials fee of $150/class, students can make a related art project.
