FREE: Van Wezel presents F.A.M. (Feelings Addressed Mindfully): Social Emotional Learning Through the Arts

Program description

These interactive, zoom based experiences, are designed to guide students into creating a mindful space to be available and present for learning. The goal is to help students feel better so they can learn better. We connect Drama, Movement, and Writing to CASEL competencies of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making. Experiences can be done in any order or quantities.

Workshops are available virtually or in person.

All FAM Workshops are FREE for 2021-2022.

You may select one visit, three visit, or 5 visit residencies. Longer residencies are available upon request.

Self-Awareness

Self-Awareness and Movement- Creative movement practices to discover and transform physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts

Self-Awareness and Writing-Creative writing exercises focused on exploring and identifying feelings, thoughts, and emotions

Self-Awareness and Drama- Improvisational and dramatic exercises designed to explore and identify emotions and needs.

Self-Management

Self-Management and Movement- Creative Movement practices to regulate energy; control the body and balance mental & emotional wellbeing.

Self-Management and Writing-Creative writing practices that help identify and regulate thoughts and behaviors in different scenarios.

Self-Management and Drama- Improvisational and dramatic exercises designed to manage and transform feelings and emotions.

Social- Awareness

Social-Awareness and Movement- Creative movement practices to highlight individual expression and an honoring of diversity.

Social-Awareness and Writing- Creative and reflective exercises that explore diverse perspectives, and help students empathize with others.

Social-Awareness and Drama- Explores perspective, diversity and empathy through a series of dramatic and improvisational exercises.

Relationship Skills

Relationship Skills and Movement- Movement exercises to develop healthy connections through clear body language, creative risk-taking, contrast and response.

Relationship Skills and Writing- Reflective and creative writing practices that help develop positive relationships, and collaborate with diverse people in various situations.

Relationship Skills and Drama- Practicing interactions, conversations and debates through drama games and improvisation.

Responsible Decision Making

Responsible Decision Making and Movement- Creative movement practices to develop problem solving skills and personal responsibility in consideration of everyone’s safety.

Responsible Decision Making and Writing- Creative writing practices that promote curiosity and open-mindedness in order to make positive choices through reflection.

Responsible Decision Making and Drama- Problem solving techniques, taking action and evaluation through drama and improvisational games.
