WRITE A PLAY is a year-round arts integration program providing students with the example, the inspiration, and the skills to write their own original plays. From field trips to the theatre to see professional productions, to an interactive performance created at your school, to playwriting lessons that will develop the inner artist in your students, this award-winning program is designed to inspire the next generation of playwrights. Now in its 33rd year, WRITE A PLAY reaches over 47,000 students annually across the state of Florida; nationally as far as Camden, NJ and Woodstock, IL; and internationally as far as Scotland and Israel.

In this brand-new FST adaptation of The Velveteen Rabbit, Margery Williams’ classic story springs to magical life. When The Child gets The Rabbit, she is, at first, disappointed with her gift. But as the two quest and adventure through her storybooks, both Rabbit and Child grow, change, and care for each other. Over time, they discover that love is the greatest force in the universe and can make impossible things real.
The Velveteen Rabbit is the first component of the 23-24 WRITE A PLAY series. We encourage you to participate in all three components, The Velveteen Rabbit, Imagination Rocks, and The Power of Peanut Butter & Other Winning Plays so your students not only SEE live theatre but also get the opportunity to write and create plays of their own. Teachers who participate in the whole series save 50% and have access to FST professionals, bus funding, and free teacher/chaperone tickets.
