The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast

The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast

Educating and inspiring generations of musicians and audiences

Each season, The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast (“Perlman Suncoast”) hosts The Perlman Music Program (PMP) Winter Residency. Founded by Toby Perlman, and with a world-renowned faculty led by her husband, internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor Itzhak Perlman, PMP augments its seven-week summer school program in Shelter Island each December with a 17-day winter residency in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The residency provides valuable mentoring and performance opportunities for approximately 35 young international string musicians, ages 12-20+, and offers 20+ free and low-cost musical events on the campus of USF Sarasota-Manatee.

PMP Alumni: In Schools – (November/February/April (2021-2022)

Each year, Perlman Suncoast brings stellar alumni of The Perlman Music Program, now professional musicians, into public and private elementary, middle and high schools. In-school experiences are based upon school preferences and may include: interactive performances and Q&A for entire grade levels of students and/or string classes; master class experiences (for intermediate and advanced string players); and/or playing side-by-side with students in a school orchestra class. Program goals include supporting recruitment into string programs and getting students excited about classical music. Thanks to generous grants and sponsorships, PMP Alumni: In Schools is presented to schools at no charge.

PMP Alumni: In Schools – Virtual (Spring 2021)

The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast is offering elementary, middle and high school music teachers the opportunity to present a PMP Alumni: In Schools Virtual education outreach program to their students featuring alumni of The Perlman Music Program, founded by Toby and Itzhak Perlman. PMP Alumni are young string players who studied with The Perlman Music Program, and who are now pursing post-graduate degrees or are professional musicians. Virtual education outreach programs, via Zoom, may include pre-recorded performances, master classes, and/or interactive demonstrations and discussions between alumni and students. We also offer elementary school teachers the opportunity to share fun, family-oriented classical music education pre-recorded videos available via YouTube links.

The Perlman Music Program Winter Residency – (family programs: Winter Break) (2021-2022)
