Virtual Learning

Mote SEA Trek – award-winning virtual programs in your classroom

Mote Marine Laboratory has over 20 years of experience delivering secure, two-way, interactive virtual experiences to Sarasota classrooms. We connect your learners to our STEM subject matter experts and engage their curiosity with science demonstrations and lively animal encounters. We can see and hear your learners and they can see and hear us via private, safe, interactive videoconferencing connections. Our award winning lessons are based on over 60 years of marine research at our lab and are available in 30 and 60 minute lengths with options for K-12th grades.

FREE: Mote and The Bay: Explore “The Bay” (virtual)

Program description

Explore “The Bay” with Mote

Go on a lively journey with Mote as we explore and learn about local habitats and adaptations during a virtual visit to the new “Bay Park.” This interactive science exploration will take you virtually to “The Bay” to learn more about this new community park. During this class, students will be transformed into scientists to learn how to use tools and to make observations. Students will learn what it’s like to be a scientist while investigating plants, animals, and the bay environment along the way. Each student will be provided with a Field Guide to follow along and take notes.

In addition to the virtual exploration, a kit centered on the watershed is available to teachers for check out. As a follow up, students are invited to visit The Bay with their families and to check out a backpack with hands-on learning materials so that they can share what they learned with their family.
