OUR MISSION
The Lemur Conservation Foundation (LCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the primates of Madagascar through managed breeding, scientific research, education, and art.
AKO CONSERVATION EDUCATION PROGRAM
LCF welcomes you to join the growing number of educators around the world participating in the Ako Conservation Education Program. This program is an international environmental education program for grades K-5. The Ako Program uses six children’s picture books with accompanying lesson plans, posters, and other educational materials to teach kids about lemurs and their habitats in Madagascar. Our fun and engaging explorations highlight key biological concepts such as food webs, animal behavior, and taxonomy. Each of our explorations meet both Florida state and national science education standards and include subjects ranging from math to art.
All 21 Ako Lemur Lesson Plans for grades K-5, the Ako Educator’s Guide, and additional materials are available to download for free HERE.
