North Port High School Visual & Performing Arts Magnet

North Port High School Visual & Performing Arts Magnet has taken great pride in creating specialized programs in the arts areas of Visual Arts, Instrumental & Vocal Music Arts, Theatre Arts, and Dance Arts. We were named Sarasota County’s South Arts Magnet during the 2020- 2021 school year. Our staff and students have worked very hard over the last 22 years to develop strong supportive arts programs where our students continue to grow and develop their artistic self. We offer many opportunities to connect students with support and training beyond high school as they move toward finding colleges and careers.

Peter and the Wolf

Program description

North Port High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Repertory Dance Ensemble returns April 11th with the traditional children’s classic Peter and the Wolf. Featuring the music of Sergei Prokofiev where each instrument represents a different character the story is brought to life through accompanying narration and outstanding student dance performers. Follow Peter as he embarks on the experience of a lifetime, frolicking with his woodland friends and working as a team to outwit the hungry Wolf. Elementary school students have the opportunity to attend a special performance at 10:00am, and children of all ages can delight in the experience at a unique public performance at 7:00pm, featuring additional performances from the NPHS VPA Dance and Choral ensembles and solo performers.
