The Marvelous, Miraculous Circus Machine!
The Marvelous, Miraculous Circus Machine is an exciting adventure in physical science! Led by the Circus Arts Conservatory teaching artists, students will learn about balanced and unbalanced forces, cause and effect, gravity, friction, potential and kinetic energy all while working as a collaborative team to create a 'circus machine' from everyday objects. This is a project based program that includes around five classes (depending on teacher needs).
Introductory Assembly
Classroom workbooks and classroom kits
Final performance will be at the Sailor Circus Arena on January 20 or 21, 2022
Online resources for students and teachers
Although this curriculum is created for fifth grade it can easily be adjusted for 4-8th grades
As an engaging finale to the classroom experience, a performance is held, reinforcing what the students have learned. Here, a giant cause and effect machine with circus artists at part of the machine itself, will be triggered to the delight of the audience.
On line resources are freely available for use in the classroom. On the site, students can watch videos on each of the scientific concepts and teachers will find assessments and other resources as well. All lessons are aligned to the Florida State Standards.
