Character Creations: Introduction to Makeup and Wig Design and Application
This Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Exploration provides students the opportunity to
discover and develop their artistic and visual expression while providing practical
experience. Students will identify the basics of makeup and wig design and the role
designers play in the performing arts. Students will understand that makeup and hair
are tools that designers can use to convey characters and the world of a theatrical
production more effectively. Students will investigate the fundamental rules of makeup
and wig design through the creation of a design plot, basic makeup application
techniques and wig construction and styling, and through the exploration of simple
makeup prosthetics.
