Experience Science at the Sailor Circus Arena!
Circus, is a beautiful art form of movement and skill, it is also a great lesson in physics. This exploration, hosted by The Circus Arts Conservatory allows students to see firsthand and experience for themselves the science of motion in Sarasota’s only circus arena.
The three basic kinds of circus acts that will be investigated: balancing, hanging and manipulation. This field trip combines lecture and demonstration with engaging activities allowing each student to physically attempt various circus acts. Students will be afforded the opportunity to learn through different types of learning styles. Students will be instructed by professional coaches and experienced Circus Artists. Concepts to be covered are Newton’s Three Laws of Motion and the necessary concepts to understand them. Students will move through a variety of stations including: tight wire, aerial trapeze, juggling, simple machines, manipulation as well as a science station for reflection. A workbook will be provided for each student.

Students will understand Newton’s laws through movement of the body as well as objects.
