The Circus of Language: The Circus Poster -DIGITAL EXPLORATION!
Before television and radio, people would find out when the circus was coming to town through the art of the circus poster. Enticing words like Spectacular! Wondrous! and Astonishing! would describe the beautiful graphic artwork designed to draw an audience. The Circus Arts Conservatory teaching artists will use Zoom to lead the classroom in this unique exploration of words.
Learners will work as a team to deconstruct words and create new phrases. Students will use theater arts and language as tools to explore the world of words.
Essential Concepts:
Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.
Determine or clarify meaning of unknown words.
Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
Further extension would be to create a circus poster.
