VIRTUAL HANDS-On Origami Fractions for 3rd Graders
Teaching Artist, Kuniko will help you learn fractions with Origami, the art of paper folding. The paper folding reveals the concept of 1/2 -- 1/4 -- 1/8, 2/4=1/2 as students make origami house. The goal is to achieve Math Standards MAFS.3.NF.1.1., MAFS.3.G.1.2. and MAFS.3.G.1.1. (Designed for 3rd Graders, 4th & 5th Graders can use it for reviewing yer fractions basics.)
It's fun! Kids love origami (Kuniko is amazed to see how much they enjoy!). By step by step instruction, in this video students will fold Origami House and at each crease, fractions are explained. Kuniko carefully chose this origami model so that all children finish the folding successfully; Origami House is easy to follow plus the folding process consists of dividing the whole square by 2, 4 and 8.
No worries! If help is needed, she will be there on Zoom with the class! The reason Kuniko is offering recorded video instead of video streaming is; 1)the quality of picture and audio is far better than Zoom screen share, 2)it's cheaper, 3)students can pause, rewind and fast forward as needed.
No origami paper needed! Just a notebook paper or letter size paper will do.
VIRTUAL MENU
Choose the style!
Sandwich Style: Kuniko appears on Zoom before and after her recorded video watched. At the beginning she appears on Zoom to check with teachers & students, then play her recorded instructional 20 minutes video, which includes the fractions instruction. Kuniko appears on Zoom again after the recorded video watched and will work with students who could not finish the origami house. Q & A and more origami-to-fold are included.
Lunch Box Style: Take it with you! The recorded tutorial video has the link to play. Whenever you need it, simply play and use it for the classroom activity. If needed, schedule her appearance on Zoom for Q & A and extra time to complete the fractions lessons.
Sushi Roll Style: Tell Kuniko what your class needs are. Kuniko will roll it into her presentation. For example if you are teaching '1/2=2/4' only today, and '2/4 and 3/4 to identify' tomorrow, Kuniko will chop up her video and arrange it to suit your teaching plan.
Would you rather do video stream? You got it! Please check my other listing by searching 'kuniko'.
